Vivek Ramaswamy is the son of geriatric doctor Geeta Ramaswamy and General Electric engineer Vivek Ganapathy. His family moved from Vadakkencherry, Palakkad, Kerala to the United States.

Vivek Ramaswamy is a Phi Beta Kappa scholar who earned a BA in biology from Harvard College in 2007 with the highest honors, summa cum laude. His thesis on “the moral concerns raised when hybrid humans and animals are created” earned him the Bowdoin Prize for Natural Sciences, recognized by both “The Boston Globe” and “The New York Times.”

In 2011, he pursued his legal education at Yale Law School and successfully graduated in 2013.
